Wow, I didn't think Angel would or could play hardball, but the whole conversation after:

"This is what you got me for in the first place, right? For her?"

"That's not relevant."

and "You got another way then?" Angel said. "No? So, we just walk away from this and make like it never happened? That's what you've done every other time, right? I guess it's easy for you."

Total hardball, and very cruel, although it's sort of like the pot calling the kettle black. BUT. Angel is finally saying what he thinks instead of not saying it at all, and Robin doesn't retaliate in any way although it understandably makes him very angry, and confines himself to simply trying to explain and dissuade. I think it's a much healthier dynamic for them, and much less passive aggressive of Angel. I also love how Robin lays down the law: "I'm not letting her have you." Possessive/ protective lovers for the win.

The way you have developed the two of them, as individuals and as a couple since the first chapter is wonderful. I couldn't see how they two of them would work at that point, although I figured you had something up your sleeve. I didn't like the Robin character much; I thought Angel was sort of pathetic, and not in a good way, but they do work now, and do function as a couple and a team -- something bigger than the sum of its parts. And they have both grown, and I think become better and stronger people. I loved Robin telling Alberich he was trying to be good, even though he seemed to be a bit embarrassed about it. Like Alberich said, Robin has grown since the last time he saw him.

And Rose, poor psycho Rose. I wonder how Angel will react, when the person he's going through all of this trouble for is threatening to kill his family, and actually has killed Robin's family. It makes it that much harder to do the right thing, or even to decide what the right thing is. That's quite a dilemma.
