I think it is telling that his dearest dreams, while selfish in some ways, are partially for the benefit of someone else, and someone he can't even bring himself to believe loves him back.
This whole chapter was sad and creepy. And I mean fucking your boyfriend's MOM is so, so wrong (but hot!), and yeah, I know it is a ritual, but still. And he stuck to his purpose, even though the woman tempted him, and he ate. So to speak.
And I can't believe he is still trying to help Rose, who has threatened to kill his family. Angel's such a sap, but it -- his kindness and compassion -- is one of the endearing things about him.
